Report abuse and illegal content

1. What this is about

Answely answers visitors' questions on our customers' websites. The answers are generated exclusively from content that the customer has published itself or imported via the push interface. We store this content in the index and reproduce it in excerpts and summaries via the answer box.

This page explains how to notify us if

  • an answer box displays illegal content or links to such content,
  • Answely is used on a fraudulent website, for example a fake shop or bank page,
  • someone misuses the service itself, for example through mass queries or attacks, or
  • you have found a security vulnerability.

For questions about your own data, please use Access and deletion; for complaints about our service, Complaints.

2. Our role under the Digital Services Act

The Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, "DSA") has applied to all intermediary services since 17.02.2024. Because Answely stores content provided by the customer on its behalf and reproduces it via the answer box, we treat Answely as a hosting service within the meaning of Art. 3(g)(iii) DSA. In our assessment, Answely is not an online platform within the meaning of the DSA, because dissemination to the public is only a minor feature of the customer's website and not our main purpose.

For us, this entails in particular:

  • a single point of contact for authorities (Art. 11) and for recipients of the service (Art. 12),
  • information on restrictions in our Terms of Use (Art. 14),
  • a notice and action mechanism for illegal content (Art. 16),
  • a statement of reasons when we restrict content or an account (Art. 17),
  • notification of authorities in the event of suspicion of criminal offences involving a threat to the life or safety of persons (Art. 18).

As a micro enterprise, we are exempt from the obligation to publish regular transparency reports under Art. 15 (Art. 15(2)).

Who is responsible. The customer, not Answely, is responsible for the content of its website (clause 10.3 of the Terms of Use). Answely does not add any facts of its own: the language model may only answer from excerpts of the website. If an answer reproduces content incorrectly, this is a quality error that you can also report to us (section 6).

3. Point of contact

Please send notices, requests from authorities and all matters covered by this page to:

  • Email: support@answely.com
  • Form: the support form on answely.com, reason "Something else", with the keyword "DSA notice" at the beginning of the message. The form does not have a separate reason for notices.
  • Post: LW IT Solutions Company Lukas Wójcik, al. Tadeusza Kościuszki 80/82, lok. 301, 90-437 Łódź, Poland.
  • Languages: German, English and Polish.

The same point serves as the point of contact for the authorities of the Member States, the Commission and the Board for Digital Services under Art. 11 and for recipients of the service under Art. 12. Contact is not restricted to automated tools; every notice is read by a human.

The support form accepts three messages per hour from the same IP address. For extensive notices, please send an email.

4. What a notice should contain (Art. 16)

So that we can examine a notice without having to ask further questions, please state:

  • Where: the exact address (URL) of the website on which the answer box displays the content, and the question with which it appears. A screenshot of the answer helps, because answers are not stored and may differ slightly for the same question.
  • What: the text or link complained of, if possible with the address of the source page linked below the answer.
  • Why: a sufficiently substantiated explanation of why the content is illegal, with the legal provision if you know it.
  • Who: your name and email address. For notices concerning child sexual abuse material, you may remain anonymous.
  • Statement: a statement confirming your bona fide belief that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

A template:

DSA notice – website: … – question in the answer box: … – content complained of: … – source page: … – reasons: … – name and email: … – I declare in good faith that the information is accurate and complete.

Please do not report content merely because you dislike it or because it is factually incorrect; the operator of the website is responsible for that in the first instance. If someone repeatedly sends manifestly unfounded notices, we will handle their notices with lower priority.

5. What happens to your notice

  • Acknowledgement of receipt. If you have provided an email address, we acknowledge receipt without undue delay, usually on the next working day.
  • Review by a human. We examine diligently, objectively and without automated decision-making whether the content is manifestly illegal or infringes our Terms of Use.
  • The customer is involved. Because the content originates from the customer's website, we inform the customer and give it the opportunity to remove the content or exclude the page from the answer box. We only pass on your name in this context if this is necessary for the review and you have consented.
  • Measures. If the content is illegal and the customer does not act in time, we switch off the answer box of the website concerned. In the event of serious infringements, such as a fraudulent site, we suspend immediately, including the account. There is no tool with which we ourselves can remove individual pages from an index; this is done through the customer's exclusions or, if the customer does not act, by suspending the entire website.
  • Notification to you. We inform you of our decision and the reasons for it, as well as of the possibilities for redress.
  • Criminal offences. If there are indications of a criminal offence involving a threat to the life or safety of persons, we inform the competent authorities without undue delay (Art. 18).

We acknowledge receipt and inform you of our decision. Where content is manifestly illegal, we act immediately.

6. Erroneous answers

If an answer reproduces the content of the website incorrectly, this is generally not illegal content but an error of the language model. Every answer box points out that answers may be incomplete and that the sources are authoritative. Please report such cases to the operator of the website; the operator can trace the answer with its tools, store an editorial answer or block the topic. We are also happy to receive the notice via the point of contact. How Answely substantiates answers and where the limits lie is described on the page on the AI Act.

7. If we suspend: statement of reasons and redress (Art. 17)

If we suspend an answer box, a website or an account, the customer receives a statement of reasons by email to the address of its account no later than when the suspension begins. It states:

  • which measure we have taken and whether it is time-limited,
  • the facts and circumstances on which it is based, and whether it results from a notice (we only name the notifying person where necessary),
  • whether automated means were involved (not in the case of suspensions due to an infringement; only switching off after failed domain verification or after the quota has been reached happens automatically),
  • the legal provision or the clause of the Terms of Use on which we rely,
  • how the customer can object.

A website or an account can only be suspended in the administration area once a statement of reasons for the customer has been entered (at least 20 characters). The email is sent in the account's language to the holder – for a website, to the owner of its workspace – and states the measure with its time and the note that it applies until it is lifted, the statement of reasons entered with the facts, clause 23 of the Terms of Use as the basis, that the decision was taken by a person and not by an automated system, and the means of redress: replying to the email or writing to support@answely.com, the complaints procedure and the courts. If we lift the suspension, the holder also receives an email about it.

Objection. The customer can object to any suspension via the point of contact. We review the objection and reply within 14 days, stating our reasons. Answely is a sole proprietorship: the objection is decided by the same person who decided on the suspension, namely the owner. In addition, recourse to the courts and a complaint to the Digital Services Coordinator in Poland, the President of the Office of Electronic Communications (Prezes Urzędu Komunikacji Elektronicznej, UKE), remain available.

Grounds for suspension. Under clause 23 of the Terms of Use, we may suspend a website or the account if the use

  • endangers the security of the service,
  • infringes laws or the rights of third parties,
  • circumvents or conceals the AI labelling (clauses 12 and 17.2),
  • breaches the customer's obligations, for example through use on third-party websites, automated mass queries, probing the service or circumventing quotas (clauses 10 and 12), or
  • a payment is overdue.

Where reasonable, we announce a suspension in advance and give an opportunity to remedy the situation. The normal search on the customer's website continues to work during a suspension.

8. How Answely protects itself against abuse

  • Domain verification. Answely only retrieves pages of a domain once the customer has proven that it owns the domain. Verification is checked again regularly; if it fails for more than 14 days, the box switches itself off.
  • Origin check. The answer box only answers on websites whose hosts the customer has confirmed. Requests from third-party pages are rejected before the language model runs, so that no one can use up a customer's quota from the browsers of third-party visitors.
  • Rate limiting. A maximum of 60 requests per minute is possible per visitor IP, across all endpoints combined. For this purpose, the IP address is only used as a hash with a daily changing secret value, and these keys expire after 2 minutes.
  • Limited concurrency. Only a few answers run simultaneously per website and for the service as a whole. In the event of overload, the visitor receives a notice, not an erroneous answer.
  • Quotas. Each website has a monthly quota. Once it is reached, the box disappears until the end of the month; the customer is warned in advance.
  • Website quick check ("Check your website"). The public quick check on answely.com checks at most 3 pages, accepts one attempt per minute per identifier and also limits the total number of runs. The identifier is an HMAC derived from the IP address; the rate-limiting data is held for at most 2 minutes. Only public HTTPS addresses without credentials are retrieved, robots.txt is respected, and internal network addresses are blocked.
  • MCP search access and push interface. Both are switched off by default, separately limited and only reachable if expressly enabled by the customer; the push interface requires a secret token and only accepts documents released for public use.
  • Protection against injected instructions. Texts from websites and questions are passed to the language model as data, not as commands. This cannot entirely rule out manipulation; however, answers without a valid source reference are discarded.
  • Emergency stop. We can suspend individual websites or hide all answer boxes at once; the customers' normal search remains unaffected.
  • No content in logs. Our logs contain neither questions nor answers. This protects visitors, but also means that we cannot look up an individual answer after the event. That is why we ask for a screenshot in section 4.

9. Reporting security vulnerabilities

If you have found a vulnerability in Answely, please write to the point of contact with a description of how the error can be reproduced. In doing so, do not access other people's data, do not change anything and do not put load on the service. We acknowledge receipt, keep you informed about the fix and, if you wish, credit you by name after the fix.

10. Requests from authorities

Authorities send orders from judicial or administrative authorities to act against illegal content (Art. 9) or to provide information (Art. 10) to the point of contact in section 3. We acknowledge receipt, report what action we have taken and inform the customer concerned, unless the order prohibits this. Because Answely does not store questions and answers in the default setting, we are generally unable to provide information about individual visitors.
